SPA DAYYYY!

December 8th, 2023 marks a special day in my heart. It is with great love our 5-year anniversary! To mark this special occasion, and wanting to do this for many years, we decided pretty much instantly to treat ourselves to a spa day! After working hard for many years, we both needed it. We decided to visit one of the best places I have ever been. It is called SoJo Spa in Edgewater NJ. It is a Korean-based spa.

This spa is one of the nicest things I have ever experienced. I am not trying to write this as a review but I am not sure if I can help it. It was just pure bliss. I picked up Yu from her house and we drove to this spa club. For breakfast that day I believe we had Bagels with egg and cheese before we left for the club. Edgewater is an interesting town. It’s right on the water, with a beautiful skyline view of the city. Especially the spa in certain areas, it was truly a sight to see.

We finally got to the spa club after approximately 30-40 minutes of driving from her house. I was not sure what to expect but my hopes were high, and man did this place exceed those hopes tenfold. Valet parked the car, and checking in we got changed into our robes. We did the first activity, the hydrotherapy spa.

This spa was basically a giant jacuzzi with different kinds of jets for different areas of the body. The first spa and I was already having a blast!

Just take a look at that view! Absolutely stunning but not as stunning as my beautiful Yu.

We did the foot rock path. Honestly this hurt but supposedly it decreases your blood pressure or whatever. As I said not really trying to make this a review but there was so much to do here. We tried the dry sauna for a bit, before heading to our next big activity.

We decided to get a couples massage! I mean we have to. You can’t just come to a spa without experiencing a massage. Listen I don’t know how to describe it but I was touched by god. It was divine. Yukta also agrees! We both decided to do an aromatherapy massage. The smells of the oils were great whatever they were. There is literally a glowing effect to the massage.

In fact, I can prove it, here is a before and after picture of us.

That is the glow of every bit of stress pulled from the body. What a life. There were tons of other experiences here we experienced afterward. I am not even sure if we got them all but we tried. There were several saunas, such as a charcoal sauna which was my favorite, a red clay sauna, a white clay sauna, a Himalayan salt sauna, and an Ice room. There were also several baths like the silk bath or the Hinoki bath. The Hinoki bath was my absolute favorite. There was another sauna called the Ganbanyoku Sauna. Which was lying on hot stones. I believe this was Yu’s Favorite. She actually fell asleep here.

We tried everything, not necessarily in that order but this place had a ton of stuff.

It’s a long day with a lot of activities. We got hungry. This being a hipster zone meant at least there was a good chunk of vegetarian options. I decided to go for the black bean burger. You went for the tofu rice bowl. Both were very good. The portions were huge! I could not even finish it.

I was not typing this in the order it happened as we did the Ganbanyoku sauna last. However, there is one thing I didn’t mention yet. The infinite pool. I talked about the NYC view before, and the nice hot spas, but this was the spot. This is the best spot to catch a sunset see the skyline, and gaze upon the city that never sleeps as all the lights flicker on. While the massage was the event of its own, this was the event to see for the whole building. We got there early and just enjoyed the view. By the time we left, we were practically raisins. But this view could never be beaten. I am so lucky through this whole day I never ended up dropping my phone in the water. Despite it being waterproof so they claim, I was still careful with it.

This was an amazing trip and idea to do. Last year we had gotten foot massages, and this year a full body. I am completely okay with following the trend of body relaxations on our anniversaries. I loved every bit of this spa, I loved every second with Yu, and I loved how happy she was. We need that money. It wasn’t cheap but it was truly one of the best experiences of our lives. Happy Holidays and a New Year! 2024 is gonna be wild!
